Medical Clinic Wiring Upgrades (AS:3000, AS:3003)

Kilner Electrics provide Medical Clinic Electrical Wiring Upgrades across Metropolitan Melbourne and Regional Victoria and ensure compliance with the Australian New Zealand Wiring Rules (AS/NZs 3000:2007) and Wiring Rules (AS/NZS 3003:2018) for Patient Area Electrical Installations.

It is a requirement that all healthcare related patient areas comply with the latest Australian standard AS/NZS 3003:2018.

A "Patient Area" is any location where it is intended that low voltage medical electrical equipment will be used on a patient. This includes hospitals and medical clinics, as well as other relevant specialist treatment clinics such as dental, physiotherapy, dermatology, orthopaedic clinics and many others.

This requires that all patient areas to be wired as Body Protected Electrical Areas (BPA), including the use of residual-current devices (RCDs) on all electrical sockets in the patient area.  RCDs provide increased protection against electric shock to staff and patients.

In addition to this, any area that involves the use of cardiac electrical equipment, such as Operating Rooms and Intensive Care Units must be wired as a Cardiac Protected Electrical Area (CPA).

If you are uncertain about the compliance of your healthcare practice, call Kilner Electrics on 0418 179 200 or email us for an assessment of your clinic.
